| Intro: | Amateur photography is one of my hobbies and artistic outlets. I was delighted to finally buy a digital camera and started to have fun experimenting with post-processing. Now I am torturing my friends and family with many kinds of photo gifts:) September 2007 update: Okay, I finally got myself a more serious digital camera. Then my laptop died and I had to replace it so I could do my post-processing work (never mind the work work!). Expensive hobby, this:) September 2008 update: Another year later, already! This year I finally started shooting in RAW and discovered that it is not scary after all:) I like Camera RAW editing in Photoshop CS3, and find it solves a few things I was struggling with a bit. Still need to get a 'real' tripod that is suitable for landscapes and other outdoor photo ops. Meanwhile, I enjoy trying to SEE things differently for photo material, and push my pp work farther and farther. Hopefully someday I'll even have a signature style, but so far I think it's only beginning to evolve. Let's see what the next year brings:) September 2009 update: It's been a unique year, with some significant distractions and shifting priorities. Although I have been less active posting and critiquing than previously, I stop in to look around as often as possible. To all my friends here - keep up the good work! ************************************************** A wise man and a wise guy are not the same thing. - ks ************************************************** "You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus." - Mark Twain ************************************************** "People of high self-esteem are not driven to make themselves superior to others. They do not seek to prove their value by measuring themselves against a comparative standard. Their joy is being who they are, not in being better than someone else." -Nathaniel Branden "There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative." -W. Clement Stone ************************************************** "Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom." - Theodore Rubin "Where did we ever get the crazy idea that in order to make [people] do better, first we have to make them feel worse? Think of the last time you felt humiliated or treated unfairly. Did you feel like cooperating or doing better?" - Jane Nelson "Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless." - Mother Teresa "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." - Philo "Life is not so short but that there is always time enough for courtesy." - Ralph Waldo Emerson "When kindness has left people, even for a few moments, we become afraid of them as if their reason had left them. When it has left a place where we have always found it, it is like shipwreck; we drop from security into something malevolent and bottomless." - Willa Cather "Kindness has converted more sinners than zeal, eloquence or learning." - Frederick W. Faber "Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much." - Blaise Pascal "When you have a choice to be right or to be kind, always choose kind. Being right is for the Ego." - Wayne Dyer ************************************************** | |
