black and white conversion | lynnekelman
(1033) [2008-08-18 15:24:39] | | I changed the above to black and white using channel mixer in Adobe. First I change in channels then I go to adjustments and tweek tones just to get it right. I am not happy using the black and white choice in adjustments,I just cannot get the right tonal width---- |

 conversertion to b/w | lynnekelman
(1033) [2008-07-16 18:08:03] | I am undecided whether to make this a colour or black and white upload, so am doing a workshop for the black and white and maybe see what you folks think.
I use channel mixer to transfer colour images to b/w--I do have b/w on Adobe CS3 but it never seems to attain the final tonal quantities that I like--so I go to channel mixer, tick off monochrome and play with the colour flags until tonal quality is just about right-then I go to levels and tweek levels until I get it the way I like it-crisp, contrasty etc----
I really wanted to show the starkness and cold of the winter in this area of the forest that has suffered from fire--it made me feel colder and lonelier than anywhere else in the park---Lynne |

 Frames/Borders | peterhanington
(417) [2008-03-25 15:10:12] [1] | Hi Lynne...
Yesterday I sent you a long reply to your questions about frames/borders. I decided to use one of your photos to demonstrate what sort of results can be achieved with PhotoFiltre. Hope you approve:)
I have played around quite a bit with the techniques for framing in PhotoShop described in the tutorial, and have determined that the number of steps required, and the inability to produce precise measurements even in the 'Canvas Size' method)make PS a poor choice when compared to the ease of use of the Photo Filtre protocols. Try them both, however, and come to your own conclusions.
Cheers, Peter |

I ried to reduce the noise andit does not make a big difference. In fact, I think there is no noise on the original, only fog.

 Colour boost | HeadlessGuy
(1503) [2008-03-14 19:50:01] [3] | The colours might be a bit over the top but I thought it was a good photo to try this on.
In photoshop I used the following adjustment layers
- Color Balance (add margenta, red and yellow)
- Levels (adjust the blacks to darken it a bit)
- Photo Filter (custom red/orange) colour
I also cloned out the spot just right of the para sailer and try to repair the smudge or lens flare in the shilouettes of the tree.
Hope you like it.
Cheers,
Jens |
