 Zoom Out | mpr
(1334) [2008-03-16 09:49:01] | | The original shot was a zoom in at 200mm (300mm+ with crop factor). This shot is probably at 18mm or so showing how far away I truly was from the mountain. To give the viewer an even better sense of scale, these are in general, the relative size of the trees the dot the landscape in the original shot. Note: These two shots were PP at different times and for this one I chose to cool it down a bit so it contains a bit more blue in the sky than the original. |

 Convert BW, Shadows, Highlights, Crop | machinelove
(10895) [2008-03-16 08:39:22] [2] | There was nothing wrong with the original Mike, it's just lovely. However, I felt like seeing how the scene woudl look with a crop that moved the peaks slightly to the right. I also converted to B/W added a blue tine, and played with the shadows and highlights sliders in CS3. Hope you don;t mind.

(512) [2008-02-07 13:19:35] [2] | Hi Mike,
I did this rather quickly so didn't record all the details but as a coarse sequence of events here it is;
* Made a duplicate
to this I lightened the shadows (about 20 - 30%) then applied a green filter (30%).
* Went to original, knocked the reds down a little in levels.
*Put the duplicate layer on original and erased the sky and midground with eraser opacity 40 - 60 % letting the original red sky back through until I was happy with it.
* put on a white border.
I hope you like it

 Levels and shadow highlight | andtine
(1091) [2007-10-07 11:36:16] [1] | Hi Mike, I had a go at bringing out the detail in the rock and sea but it's not easy as there was no golden sun light on them in the first place. However to achieve what I have done I did the following.
1. make a levels adjustment layer and adjusted the levels to bring detail back into the rocks. This made the rest of the picture look very bright, so using a large soft paintbrush with black selected I first clicked on the layer mask for levels and painted out the effect in the places that didn't need it. I then flattened the picture.
2. Next I copied the picture as a new layer and on this used the shadow highlight tool in CS2 again i made adjustments to bring out the detail of the rock. This adjustment also made the rest of the picture bright so I added a layer mask to the copy layer and again using the paint brush and black I painted out the areas that didn't need the effect and flattened the picture.
And that's it. |

(535) [2007-01-11 23:43:55] [4] | | OK, So what I did here to the best of my ability was to smoothe out the transition of your ND filter. I did a slight open with the shadow highlight filter. I then ran a digital fill action on a masked layer and with a wacom tablet I carefully opened the rocks and strong areas lacking detail. I then put back some contrast in those areas to not leave them muddy looking and noisy. I think this looks a little cleaner and doesnt have a line where you can see the ND filter as much. |
