Hi Jean,

I filtered through blue and then through a B&W filter, adjusted shadows and highlites and framed.

I hope you like it.

Purpose: To illustrate my critique suggestions :)

Method: Contrast Masking, to reduce the shadows and bring out some more detail - NewLayerViaCopy, Desaturate, Invert, Blur/Gaussian 20px, merge mode set to Overlay at 100%. Applied a little more sharpening to bring out some more detail - usual USM values applied to L (brightness) channel in LABcolor mode (10%, 20px, 0)(40%, 1.2px, 0)(20%, 0.8px, 0). Finally converted to LABcolor and applied a light Gaussian blur (2.4px) on A and B to reduce some marginal ISO colour noise in the shadows.

Of course the shot becomes less of a portrait, but it's an alternative! I hope you like it :-)

In fact, this one was licking the base of the tripod while I was busy inside shooting some of her mates.

Purpose: To bring out a little more detail in Uscha's eyes and suggest a slightly tighter crop.

Method: Brought out a little more shadow detail using the Contrast Masking technique(NewLayerViaCopy, Desaturate, Invert, Blur/GaussianBlur 19px) Merge mode Overlay at 75%. Converted to LABcolor, then Gaussian Blurred A and B channels 1.2px to smooth out any colour noise. Sharpened using USM on the Brightness channel only. Converted back to RGB. Hue/Saturation Cyan/Blue -60 to reduce the slight coloured fringes around her edges against the snow, master saturation +20 to emphasise her eyes. Finally NewLayerViaCopy, BlurGaussian 2.4px then used a large soft-edged eraser at 10% to bring back detail in her face and "mane".

Not suggesting that it's an improvement, just that it's an alternative presentation :-)
