I agree that the reflection presents better clarity than the actual sky, maybe the harshness of the sun overexposed the sky. Also, this particular location was devoid of hyacinth, hence the almost mirror-like quality of the reflection.
FYI, the backwaters connect the various islands in Kerala, so there's a lot of traffic throughout the day from other motorised houseboats, canoes, and schoolboats..so, yes, it certainly was undisturbed at the time of capturing this shot.
