Basically, HDR means High Dynamic Range. HDR image is produced from several exposures (in this case, i used three exposures with auto-bracketing, one is measured, one 2 stops underexposed, and one 2 stops overexposed), and it's tonal depth is 12 bit per colour or more. Real HDR image cannot be seen on regular monitor (which is 8 bit per colour) so we use a little trick - tone mapping method which compresses 36 bit image into 24 bit image, but keeping contrast and details in shadows and highlights.
