Your critique is very heartening to me and here's why: I often feel inadequate on this site, partly because of my lack of a "real" camera (I don't have DSLR) and partly because of my lack of knowledge about the whole photography thing, be it lenses, filters, barrel distortion or post-processing jargon.
What I wanted to do here was set up a scene so that any mug with a point-n-shoot camera could point, shoot, and get something that looked half decent. Thankfully, it worked.
I think that's why I like the Sunshine Buddy shots so much, they're just good photos of a great set-up.
