Thanks for the advice. I realise this result is far removed from what would traditionally be called high-key. On this occasion, though, I was actually aiming for the washed out look, as I'd seen similar photos on the website of a chain of photo studios in the UK, and was just experimenting to see if I could reproduce the effect. Considering this photo was just in a normal room with an on-camera flash, I think the photoshop work has produced wonders. I've tried the more traditional high-key before and you need a lot of good quality light which most home enthusiasts don't have. Luckily I was able to borrow 2 studio lamps from work :)
