Thank you for your reply. Many cathedrals were closed or even destroyed after revolution 1917, but many of them were survived during whole Soviet times. After WWII, by Stalin order, some main, historical cathedrals were restored, because of he promised to nation if we win the hard war I will give more freedom to Orthodox church and even open and restore important historical monasteries, churches.. As a fact, after revolution 1917 they started to eliminate religion in Russia and by their fist plans they wanted to close all churches to the begging of 1940s. The Great Patriotic War (WWII) interrupted their plans...
