Back in 1988 I visited Nepal, and I hiked in a group of five from Pokhara to Jomson,
and then back to Pokhara.
It took us two weeks to do the circuit. One morning -- or afternoon -- as
we were hiking we passed this solitary mountain school near the Annapurna range.
The children were so eager to have their photograph taken. In the picture you can see the
makeshift classroom, an old blackboard, and a group of children dressed
in perhaps their only stitches -- and their smiles.
