apparently it is a myth, Ostriches, easier than the Dutch struisvogelpolitiek, and no I'm not even going to try and work that one into a conversation, don't actually bury their heads in the sand...I asked a keeper about this once and he said something like
If threatened while sitting on the nest, which is usually just a simple cavity scooped in the earth, the hen presses her long neck flat along the ground, blending with the background.
The camel was very tolerant of the Onagu despite it biting her all the time, she didn't spit once...I did get caught once in Bristol Zoo by a particularly unpleasant animal. It was not good!! Het stink...
