The "rose" is acually a spiralling cluster of seed pods such as on a Mimosa Tree. There are literally hundreds of the very small trees(bushes) in that area. Now the pods have shrunk considerably and have become quite brittle...I just assumed from the leaves that it was some type of fern...Thanks for the critique and the help...
