Hi John,
Well, I'm glad it's over. I don't like violent sports, either. This man is not exuding the spirit of victory, but that of a tortured soul.
I looked at this as an assignment of sorts--as my part in helping others "learn about the world" through my notes and photography. Boxing was new to me, and I shared it with others, hopefully with a fresh eye. I expected those that enjoy boxing to enjoy the photos; those that aren't familiar with it to look and make an opinion; and those that don't like it to pass over or have their previous opinions solidified by my shots. I know you fall into the last category.
I hate to tell you that today I discovered "ultimate fighting" on TV, and it makes boxing look like sissy stuff. My resident sports expert (husband) tells me that it's predicted that boxing is dead, since this new form of martial arts/boxing/wrestling is exploding in popularity. I saw more fighting in 15 minutes than I did the entire evening of boxing. Let's hope no one gives me tickets to that. . .
(Just kidding--I truly have had enough!)
Hope we can shake hands and meet again in the gallery,
Karen
