First, thank you very much for your useful comment. I would like to see more like this, as it helps to improve an image. Regarding contrast and colors, you're right.
As this shot was taken in a harsh morning light from the right, I used the highlight filter (Photoshop PS2)to lower the too brilliant cheek part. On my usual monitor (which is a professional LG), it looks OK, although being at the lower light and contrast level. On the laptop I use for the web, it clearly looks dull.
Shooting birds is very often a challenge because of the high contrasts encountered. In fact, best bird shots come much better under an overcast sky. I like this shot, and this colorful bird deserves a better treatment on TL! I'll try differently and repost it. Thanks again for your remark, Leanne.
