Thanks for your words. Your experience is typiccal for a Bouvier. They are very strong and protective. And they would die for you once they have dedicated you as 'their' human. This can be a big problem if you don't wish to get protection but missed the right time to tell your Bouvier who is the boss and who has everything under control.
The character of these dogs is great - except from this genetic behaviour. Some people regard them as potential dangerous but this is nonsende. They are not more dangerous as smaller dogs and great family members and guard dogs. They don't really hunt but would certainly try to catch a rabbit or deer if it jumps in front of them - as most dogs do. Big and dark dogs are polarizing people and neighbours. Some love them and others hate them. So I always keep my Bouvier on a leach exept when I walk along the Rhein, which is 100 m left of the dam you see in my post. Have a good week.
