YES ... you are right ... it became a DISASTER - KATASTROPHE ( Nightmare ) . I have followed this whole story very closely receiving a lot of information, getting up at 4.00 / 5.00 AM in the morning . Finally on April 9 " General Average" was declared - the worst 2 words in the shipping industry. Thank God we had our container insured with US>$ 125,000.- and our insurance company acted utmost quick . Our container was the 1st to be on the train to Toronto . and already the truck-shipments on their way to our customers ( some of them very angry ! ) in the U.S.
I feel very sorry for the companies ( so far 52 containers un-insured ) , not having had their container including goods insured.
This should be a WARNING to everybody to INSURE any Air- or Oceanfreight .
It is a very long, terrible , sad story ... and the shameful company MSC ... did not care much about the customers in Canada ... far away from Switzerland ( it was impossible to talk to any body there, but I found my ways around ... and received important information before anybody else did.
