I know the birds that are "too many" in the image can easily be cloned out... I just didn't take the time to do it. Besides I tend to prefer the pics "as taken" instead of doing so much work on them. Sometimes it's nice to play around with an image and alter it completely, make a whole new atmosphere. But that is only in some cases.
If something is really distracting, such as a bright color I do a little work on that.
If I need to alter too much on an image to make it really presentable, I just don't use it at all. The image is simply a failure to me then. In this case I think it's a failure, but here I liked the story that goes with it... so I placed it.
