This insect is called a cicada I believe. This time of year they go through this stage (I think they crawl out of the ground). As a kid, I used to find the old brown skins hanging on trees, walls, etc. Until I started taking pictures, I didn't ever witness one in the act of shedding. Thanks for the kind comments.
