actually it is a very simple processing, just a few klicks, the main thing is the 3 (or more) pics of different exposure that you need. HDR is the future and soon all cameras will be doing this automatically because of the high dynamic range which is very limited in the normal photos. the tonemapping which creates this LDR can be different, i like the artificial type, some people donīt..
