I think your right, it does look a little soft, i'm not really sure went wrong here I focused manually using my daughters hands exactly where the smoke would rise, but many of the good effects have come out soft whilst some of the less effective one's have come out much sharper. It's fiddly getting the lighting right but worth it. I've a few more to play around with in photoshop so that will keep me out of trouble for now.
