It's me on the photo. Initially, the photo is larger but I have cropped it in order to keep what was, in my opinion, expressive (eyes, mouth). The result - unintentional - was that the pixel density is highly reduced and that, actually, the picture is "so unsharp", as you say.
The "picture", should I wanted to say, and not the "photo" ... this "lack" break the illusion of reality that the photo want to imitate, or, put differently, the feeling that we've the object or person photographied in front of we, throught a photo very precise, very sharp, full of realistic colours, with a lot of details which lend themselves to be scrutinized, and so on.
So, after all, I like this so imperfect portrait, facing some rules of technical accuracy in the photography, cos it reflect a questioning about what is the photo or what it should be.
As for the note, it's the transcription of my feeling when I was looking at this picture. It's a kind of short imaginary story which let the reader the space to imagine, in order to make sense to what he doesn't understand. |
