You're right about the "in between expression". However, it was not "meant" to be a snapshot: I asked little "L" to pose but she is a very enthousiastic child and was more attracted by the water than by my lens (and I think I understand her ;o)). At least she didn't move here for a second or two, so I could catch her as sharp as I wanted.
As to the crop, your remark reminds me that I also did a little crop on the bottom, but, as you point out, not enough...
