I agree 100% - I hate that built in flash, but until I got the Nikon I never had a real decent flash that allows for much of anything other than harsh, direct light. I seldom use any flash at all, though, I will deal with high ISO if I need to.
This one did indeed call for the flash. I took several shots without, one of which I posted on TE, the link is in the notes.
I'm glad you like my music shots, I plan to have a few more, mostly on Mondays, especially if they are Blues musicians. My wife and I are going to Memphis in May music festival the first weekend in May, if I can smuggle the Nikon in I will get some great shots, but I will also be bringing two point n shoots just in case.
