Yes it's awfully remote , nearest neighbor is Pitcairn island a tinier island 1900 kms west and the next inhabited ones are the Gambier 2500kms west and the Marquises 3200kms to the east , yes Easter island's in the middle of nowhere ! The flight from Santigo de Chile on the mainland isn't cheap either ,we went for a week but there's plenty to see around you can go as slowly as you wish by pedal power , HA HA! it's only 30 kms long !
