Thank you, Brian, for your kind remarks.
Yes, being a 1948 model, I was 22 when I was in Greenland. Fabulous place and, at that time, unspoiled. It would be fantastic to go back again but not on some fancy cruise but just as we were in those days - free to wander anywhere. I guess even this place might not be the same any more.
As I said in the note, you can get a pretty good view of the area on GoogleEarth. There's also a couple of pictures I've put on TrekEarth as well, some time ago.
Talking of TrekEarth, have you had a look at it recently? It just seemed to change yesterday. My immediate feeling was that I didn't like it at all and that it seemed very slow and difficult to navigate. Still, we'll see. I hope they don't do the same thing to TL.
Anyway, Brian, I'm pleased that you like this one. I just thought I'd add it to this week's theme.
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. Talking of expeditions to places like this, wasn't it great that good ol' Sir Ranulph Fiennes finally made it to the top of Everest today at the age of 65? What a guy! |
