Yes this is a pierced pin. A little diamant.
As for the tilt, yes it was intentionnal, I often give little directions as...lift your chin a little, push the right shoulder, pretend that your pull from a string attach to the top of your head. I also sometime, physicly place, to give then a feel of which angle I aim. Taking a candid shot of a friend, is bit a different then when you take time to set up an plan different angles. For someone who don't know what you're doing, or what exactly your looking at, a little direction is sometime reassuring. As I've said, she kept asking what do you want me to do? Then when you get what you want, they get to look at it, so they understand what you wanted, the rest is emotion. I really feel like a hunter at this point, and I wait, for that "sincerity" that you can only find in the eyes of the subject, even if there looking away.
