Hello Dennis!
In fact she is only 2 years old! But the marks you see on ship's side are made by the mooring lines and wires rubbing against the hull. When the ships are transiting locks, it is also pretty hard for the ship's paint.
A ball park figure. These days one metric tonne of heavy fuel is costing abt $340 US. This baby is consuming abt 40 mt of fuel per day ( 13,600.00 US/per day ). It took her nine days to cover the distance from Rocky Point, Jamaica to reach Becancour ( 122,400 US / voyage.
If she would have come from Australia,it would have cost $544,000.00 US for the trip.
The Captain was not to enthousiast having to go back to Jamaica in ballast condition, with the presenceof Hurrycane Ophelia on the East coast.
She will surely rock and roll on her way to the Red Stripe beer Country.
Cheers!
