Support for the people of Burma (6 photos) 350 views :: Cordelia Gee (chocolate29)

September 2007: This theme is to collect photos from any country in support of the Burmese people. In August protests began in Burma after a huge overnight rise in fuel prices of 500% left many people in the impoverished nation unable to afford their bus fare to work. In September the country's revered monks took the lead. The rallies quickly escalated threatening the junta’s rule of over 40 years. So, in less than 2 weeks the protests were most brutally crushed. |

Flowers are among my favourite motifs. Even though they do not move, they are not always easy to photograph. I hope you like this selection. |

This is a small selection of collages and HPP work using simple objects like: a palmfrond, a paperweight, or a roof. I hope it inspires people to do their own experiments. |

The big bushfire (7 photos) 479 views :: Cordelia Gee (chocolate29)

On 18 January 2003 a bushfire reached Canberra killing 4 people and destroying 500 houses. People were unprepared, as you can read in this excerpt from a friend’s account: "The wind began to pick up, the sky darkened. Clouds of smoke were billowing over the hills…, however I continued cooking in the kitchen while watching The Australian Open. …It was only 1.30 pm … a state of emergency was declared... Around 2.30 we saw our first flames…” |
