On the very east of Maryland and Virginia separated from the mainland by a narrow sound there is a long and beautiful island of Assateague. Among other attractions you can see there wild horses. Their ancestor weren't wide, but some of them escaped and started a new life there on Assateague some hundred years ago. History and Origin of the Breed |
