Spring Rain (70)

|I was most fortunate this year: I was invited to travel with a friend to visit his elderly mother in the U.K. We were able to secure a room in a superb B&B in Boscombe (the slightly down-at-the-heels suburb of Bournemouth), just 10 minutes walk downhill to the sea and 15 minutes walk from her home. The service in the Whately B&B Hotel was truly outstanding: big clean rooms, very neat and tidy, hot breakfast, superb hospitality.|
From there we joined family friends on a few brief trips into the countryside: Christchurch (which dates back to the Saxon days and has a stunning historical church), Burley, in New Forest (a place with a checkered past: witches !!!!), and Corfe, with its famous castle ruins.
To our delight, Paul and Magda Indigo drove all the way down from their home in Yorkshire (about 7-8 hours away) to spend a weekend with us.
Together we talked shop and shot until my camera actually seemed to feel the weight of the photos! We explored the Bournemouth Pleasure Gardens, and the beach and then took off for a day in neighbouring Poole.
I was also able to slip away on my own for a few days: to visit my daughter in Mulhouse, with its delightful renaissance architecture, with a half day in Basel where TrekEarth's Pixelterror volunteered to be my guide. Another half-day trip to stunning Colmar and its medieval townscape and I was back to the U.K. again (sitting in the Luton airport from 10:30 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. to catch a bus to Heathrow and another to Bournemouth -- love EasyJet's prices, but not necessarily their schedule (^o^) ... ... )
The weekend with Paul and Magda was memorable for anothe reason, but I shall hold off on that until the right photos have been posted!!
tee hee (^o^)
