[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Every breakfast in Costa Rica included delicious, sweet, juicy, fresh fruit. On this particular day, we were having breakfast outside at El Sano Banano .. our favorite restaurant in Montezuma. I decided to attempt a few photos of my plate ... thought the brightly colored fruit with the stack of banana pancakes behind might make an interesting shot.

I know food photography requires a lot of skill, but this is my little attempt.

(I considered cloning out the little piece of papaya at the bottom right, but then realized I might have to clone out its reflection on the side of the fruit bowl as well ... decided to leave it :)

Hello Trudi,

It is amost teatime and my stomache is making the noises that suggests food needs to be offered relatively soon! So, how could I resist this!
Your 'little attempt' has been very successful, using a large aperture, your f/g fruit is sharply exposed, giving succulent details of the textures and colours. I can almost pick them off the screen.
A nice, gradual blurring into the b/g provides a nice context for the shot ... or should I say, my second course!

Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Trudy..nice shot. Wonderful colors and light. Very nice still life. I think leaving the papaya is fine..the color adds balance to the shot.

Hi Trudy,
You nailed this one, I like the sharpness & clarity as well as the natural colours, of your fruits in the foreground. The small piece of papaya, not only balances the orange to the left, but it keeps my eye from leaving the scene, mind you the sumptuous pancakes keep them in there anyway:-)I also like your chosen depth of field as it allows the backgropund food & fruit blend rather than conflict with the sharper foreground.
TFS
Best Wishes
Ron

Trudy,

I think it's a good composition, well balanced.
Colored fruits , fresh and tasty.
The pancakes in bg complete the harmony of colors and a strong desire to eat everything.
Excellent and lovely work in a great pov and vertical presentation works very well.
