(960) | My roommate's brother came down for the weekend to hang out and shoot his first short film for film school, using my roomates and I as actors and crew. The premise of the film was the abduction of my roommate's girlfriend. With a cool Quentin Tarantino homage (from Reservoir Dogs) which involved filming from the trunk of the car as the it was opened and the body of my roommate's girlfriend was shoved in.
The entire story was shot using this old 16mm Paillard Bolex camera and Kodak 7265 B&W film. I was unable to find the exact year of this model. There was no sound and the camera allowed for 30 seconds of shooting at a time (it was entirely mechanical and ran via a wind mechanism). It was interesting and enjoyable to see how much work goes into even a very short film, and also how well my photography knowledge transfered to working with this camera.
I tried to find some info about this particular camera online however I came up empty. I did however find a site with some info about this line of cameras at http://www.marriottworld.com/articles/h16.htm
If anyone has other info about this camera I would please feel free to share, I would enjoy hearing it.
I adjusted the levels, contrast, lightness, and desaturated the original image in PS7 (there was very little color to begin with other than some red on a few of the dials). I will also post a sepia toned workshop. Feel free to let me know which you like better. |
