Thanks to TL, (thank you Adam!), I am proud to introduce our feline star (she would hate me for using other words) USCHA, 10 months old Norwegian Forest Cat (in Norwegian, Skogkat). They are supposed to be very good hunters and are not afraid by snow. I tried to explain that mice, or whatever, don't run in the snow, but she wanted to have a try. Although being more on the dog side, I'm seduced by this lovely little thing and it's very soft presence in our home.

Purpose: To bring out a little more detail in Uscha's eyes and suggest a slightly tighter crop.

Method: Brought out a little more shadow detail using the Contrast Masking technique(NewLayerViaCopy, Desaturate, Invert, Blur/GaussianBlur 19px) Merge mode Overlay at 75%. Converted to LABcolor, then Gaussian Blurred A and B channels 1.2px to smooth out any colour noise. Sharpened using USM on the Brightness channel only. Converted back to RGB. Hue/Saturation Cyan/Blue -60 to reduce the slight coloured fringes around her edges against the snow, master saturation +20 to emphasise her eyes. Finally NewLayerViaCopy, BlurGaussian 2.4px then used a large soft-edged eraser at 10% to bring back detail in her face and "mane".

Not suggesting that it's an improvement, just that it's an alternative presentation :-)
