I did the following:
* Changed the levels
* Changed the contrast and brightness
* Changed the hue and saturation of colors. Especially turned reds down and moved yellows up a little to bring out the rusty feeling.
Just another version. Hope you liked it.

Here is what I did in PhotoShop CS2:
- Cropped the top which allowed me to decentered a bit the middle portion of the tool.
- Reduced Shadows to 15% & increased highlights to 35%
- Applied Smart Sharpen - Amount 35%, Radius 3.6px with remove lens blur.

This is just another vision on your picture and I hope you don't mind that I presented it to you.
