In the memory of Divya (50) hamed31568
(2437) | A few months ago, one of our relatives invited us over for dinner. I took my camera with me (I usually do, despite the inconvenient weight and size of the F717 Cybershot!). When I stepped into their house, the first thing that grabbed my attention was a fairly large picture on the wall in a beautiful classic frame. At first, I thought it was a painting but when I got closer and touched it, yep, I was wrong. It was a very fine Tabriz silk rug, a masterpiece by an unknown Iranian carpet master who doesn’t even get much paid in return for creating such beauty. Anyway, I couldn’t resist taking a few close shots and you are looking at one of them.
When I posed it on TrekLens, it was very interesting for me to see some viewers were misled to believe its just a poster :D and of course it only proved to me how fine this piece of art is. (if you take a closer look, you can see pixels showing the knots used in weaving the rug).
Anyway, I fell in love with it and asked the owner where he bought it and if he could find me another one with identical pattern.
Months later, he called me and gave me the good news that he found and ordered one for me and that it was on a plane from Tabriz (a city in North West of Iran) to Tehran.
He brought it to me later that night and now I am the proud owner of this beauty which gives me great pleasure whenever I pass by and look into her eyes…
A few days ago, I received a comment from a good viewer giving some info about the identity of the girl in this photo with some web links. I followed the link and started searching about her identity (by that time, I never thought that she might be a true real life person, I don’t know why I always presumed the rug was created from an imaginary painting or something like that). So when I searched the web, I came up with the sad truth that this beautiful girl was an Indian actress, murdered in 1993 (fell off the sixth floor of a building) at the age of 19 leaving three unfinished movies. I also saw other beautiful photos of her on the net (her biography and a couple of her photos at below addresses) ….

I still feel the same pleasure whenever I look at this fabulous piece of art, and I value its presence in our house (not only the fairly high price that I paid for it and the classic frame that’s holding it, but more for its artistic value). The only thing that has been added to the equation now is a deep feeling of sorrow, reminding me every time I look in that direction, that this innocent face used to be a lot more than just a pretty picture on the wall, and she is no longer enjoying the beauty of our world like we do. …
Thanks for visiting my gallery and have a wonderful day. |
