Introducing my home town of Christchurch, viewed from the gondola complex at the top of the Port Hills.

With a population of around 350,000, Christchurch is the 3rd largest city in New Zealand (it's a small country!) and the largest metropolitan area in the South Island.

The Port Hills are a distinctive landmark to the south of the city, and form the rim of an ancient volcano - part of Banks Peninsula, once a volcanic island now embraced by the Canterbury Plains as part of the mainland.

These picnicers were packing up after enjoying lunch with a view.

Hi Rew,

It is just something I thought I share with you, I like your photos as it is, I like the haze too, as that's how the reality look like. However, when a camera click, sometime they just don't show you the true colours, so here... I only adjust a tiny bit of contrast to the background, then reselect the grass to make it look a bit alive by increase the saturation, then select the picnicer's faces and apply a bit of gamma to lighten them up, that's all I have done, add in a bit favor. Do be honest to me what you think of it, I like to know. :D

Have a great day,
Sweety

I cropped this to emphasize the people (they are the subject of this photo after all, aren't they? ;) ) Also increased contrast and bumped up luminance. The faces of the people are a bit lost because the light is behind them. Resized up and sharpened. Just a thought. -Hugh
