Little Gracie (1)
nicka (19)
The story is very sad. Little girl was the daughter of husband and wife who run the hotel in Savannah, GA and she used to entertain all the guests and visitors. Everybody loved her. One evening she became ill and doctor said it was pneumonia.
At that time the only drug against the pnemonia was prayer.
Certainly it didn't help. Little Gracie died at 6 years of age.
Her grieving father gave the only photo of her to the famous sculptor living in Savannah. Some time later his work was done - the life size sculpture of little Gracie.
Neither Mother or Father could survive the death of their only child and they had to abandon Savannah.
Some people still say that they hear a little laughter and hear little steps in the building which used to be the hotel where little Gracie and her parents entertained their guests.

crop, greyscale, contrast

1. crop closer to the subject. The background shrubery is excessive and does nothing to support the story or the statue.
2. convert to greyscale. Could've stayed with colour, but this adds some mood.
3. increased contrast to make the statue stand out against the background.
Result: a different mood.
