The Mystery Man In My Bed (42)

small, dark and handsome just how i like my men.. ^_^

felt like doing something light and fun today to cheer myself up.. so here's a sweet little shot for you as i try to drag my tired body and mind over to the university this afternoon to do some editing for future posts on their superior computers..

this gorgeous dark and mysterious fellow in my bed is of course my kitty Bodmin.. those who don't know his less than fortunate story can read about him here and if you like you can take a closer look at his royal loveliness here

thankfully he's doing a lot better these days do to a heavy course of medication and all the love i can give.. and he just adores sleeping in bed with me.. he thinks he's my boyfriend! he even licks the inside of my ear all the time ihihih :D such a sweet boy.. this is one of his favorite positions right in the middle of my bed by the pillows (he's in the exact same place as i'm writing this.. although he's a bit annoyed that i'm typing instead of cuddling him!) so the other night when i came in the room and found my beautiful guy patiently waiting for me to join him in bed like a black furry Lothario and with the light casting these lovely shadows from my canopy on the wall.. i just thought this scene was too sweet and romantic not to photograph ^_^

Zandra dear i hope this image can make you smile and feel better :) i also hope that talking to you about my own unhappy situation hasn't contributed to your bad day and brought you down... Bodmin has asked me to send you a big hug from him too.. and he's a great hugger!

i wanted to keep the shot very soft and moody (like all good bedroom scenes! ihih) so i took it in very low light with reasonably high exposure and without a flash.. the only real light was my bedside lamp to the right of the bed which i tilted up to cast stronger shadows onto the wall

kept the original composition with any cropping, then simply sharpened, converted to grayscale (to create a deeper b&w tone than using the desaturation option) adjusted curves and levels to intensify the light and shadow contrast, converted back to RGB colour to apply the frame and signature and finally cloned out a tiny pin point reflection off one of his eyes which was terribly cute but i worried a little distracting..

hope you enjoy looking at the beautiful boy i'm lucky to share my bed with :)
