Taken at Kelmarsh in Northamptonshire at an English Heritage weekend that showed English history through the ages, this is a Saxon encampment with all the people dressed in the clothes of the time and cooking, as they would have done then.

The most difficult thing with these shots is to try and capture them with none of today’s trappings i.e. Mobile phones and cars etc. I arrived as soon as the gates opened and before the thronging masses arrived.

Hi Michael,
your photo is great as it is but it looked so authentic I thought to myself, hmmm black and white. First I removed the border from your photo and I adjusted a slight tilt ( tilt might just be the tent I dunno) then I added greyscale, sepia then adjusted the sharpness and added the border back..your originally is prettier because of the contrasting colors though. :o)
