DAY 1 (The Arrival)

My friends and I do not really fancy well established resorts. Using Google Earth and blogs of other wanderers, we scan Luzon's coastal towns for hidden gems. We had a 3 day weekend last week so we decided to head north to Pangasinan.

This is our latest find: a quiet and quaint fishing village called Tambobong in Dasol, Pangasinan. After 300 km of paved highway and about 18.2 km of very rough but scenic road (if you are a geologist you would love this road - lots of stone formations) we reached this picturesque village just in time for the warm glow of the late afternoon sun. (Another view of the beach front here)

Since there is no resort here, we have to camp on the beach (see our campsite here). One of the locals who happen to speak my dialect (the Philippines have more than 50 dialects) graciously offered us a camping area in front of his house.

We camped in front of the house of one of the locals. His house is one of the biggest in the village. He is the cousin of the barangay captain (village's elected leader).
