What are you looking at?

Pictured this little Laotian girl in a very small village in Laos.

Together with the Shoestring group we visited several villages and we always got a warm welcome, except from this little girl. She stood alone holding on a pole and every stranger she looked as if she was thinking: “Get lost you d*mm*d tourist!”

Well I took some shots and in this picture she just give a short glance in to the lens. But apparently she wasn't really happy with my visit (no jokes about my Nikon, OK?) It might be my physical appearance though :-)

When looking close at this picture I regret I didn't use a larger f-stop (f/11) Anyway its the best I could do with the image.

PP-work:

Increased saturation, brightness and contrast slightly. Cropped resized and sharpened, add frame and text.

Camera settings:

ISO: 200 ASA
White balance: auto
Meetering: pattern
Shutter speed: 1/45
Aperture: f/13

Hey Hans,
To entertain you (and your leanring curve haha) I "violated" your picture.
I resized the photo to use the rule of thirds (due to the resizing it became grainy...sorry 'bout that), used channelmixer to create a really dark b/w so the facial expression became more distinct.
Hope you don't mind

Cropped and increased contrast to try and bring more emphasis to the eyes. Used large black frame to pick out the dark eyes and make the focus more to the centre of the image.. not having done any portrait work this is a learning curve for me and not about the quality of your image which I think is excellent.

veel kleinere crop maakt het beeld intenser.
