Cherries Iced & Frosted (9)

I almost titled this, "Washington Gets the Blossoms, Wisconsin Gets the Preserves." Alas, it wouldn't fit. But you get the picture: It's cold in these parts and spring is a distant dream.

Fact is, we'd be highly pleased if the promise of five days without snow and temps in the 30s F by next weekend actually comes true. Of course, we're just a little skeptical.

Now that we've dug out from a genuine blizzard and a foot of snow over the weekend and yesterday, we actually awoke to sunshine, albeit icy, this morning. So we're counting our blessings.

These cherry trees hang their fruit just outside our office door. In about three months, they'll be in gorgeous bloom and birds will warble serenely in the branches. Until then, these vivid red remnants of last year's crop will have to remind us of what lies ahead.

I have taken snow pictures before and the light reading has often underexposed the picture. I have therefore lightened thepicture and hope you like.
