A Sense of Scale (12) mpr
(2118) | In the summer of 2007, I spent 2 weeks touring the interior of Alaska. One of the highlights (and there were many) was camping for 2 nights at Denali National Park.
One of the main attractions of the park is of course, Denali (aka Mt. McKinley) itself. If you are lucky you will actually get a good view of the mountain but in general, about 70% of the time the mountain is shrouded in clouds and the like.
I post this shot not because it's a work of art, but mainly to provide a sense of scale of this giant.
UPDATE: I added a workshop to give the viewer a sense of the tree size that dot the landscape in this photo. |

(2118) Zoom Out Edited by:mpr
(2118) |
| The original shot was a zoom in at 200mm (300mm+ with crop factor). This shot is probably at 18mm or so showing how far away I truly was from the mountain. To give the viewer an even better sense of scale, these are in general, the relative size of the trees the dot the landscape in the original shot. Note: These two shots were PP at different times and for this one I chose to cool it down a bit so it contains a bit more blue in the sky than the original. |

(2118) Convert BW, Shadows, Highlights, Crop Edited by:machinelove

There was nothing wrong with the original Mike, it's just lovely. However, I felt like seeing how the scene woudl look with a crop that moved the peaks slightly to the right. I also converted to B/W added a blue tine, and played with the shadows and highlights sliders in CS3. Hope you don;t mind.
