Let me propose you some photojournalism today (^_^)

The MSC Sabrina is finally getting some help. The owners opted to bring another ship from the company to discharge about 360 containers to lift her enough and refloat her. The MSC Jasmine therefore came to the rescue. Transfer operations just started this morning.

I left earlier today , my week of duty ended earlier (^_^). Yippee , weekend is on ! But before heading to the gym for my workout , I stopped on the docks to tagke a few shots of the operations.

Technically: To have a better view and 3-D effect I opted for a higher POV. Therefore I requested permission to the local Grain Elevators to capture images from their facilities. So this one was taken from the top of one of the unloading tower ( no. 5 ) I posted earlier a photo of the unloading tower , No. 5 is although higher than No. 3. Too bad the weather conditions were not very sunny. See the map or satellite view for my actual POV.

The list of the MSC Sabrina is clearly visible , with her name , and The MSC Jasmine docked to her port side. Both ships are completely out of the channel. Of coourse the MSC Jasmine is empty and therefore is floating (^_^) in the shallower waters.

Image uncropped. Just adjusted tones, contrasts and selective colors.

I added another shot as a workshop for a closer view.
Cheers!
Robert

More Information on the ship:
photo , MSC Fleet, Ship's particulars

You can follow the operations through the Port Authority Webcam . they blocked the camera on those ships for the time of the operations.

As per Richard ( kilted-Arab ) invitation to add a tip with your post ; my tip of the day :
Do not hesitate to walk, move or crawl for a better POV. Here I climbed abt 12 stories of stairways, but it was well worthed ( LOL! ). Great view I had ! Chilly maybe , but still worthed.

Zooming in we can appreciate workers on top of the containers pushing the spreader in position to lift a box. Officers, or the master on the port bridge wing are watching the scene.

With a darker overall image , I opened a bit more my aperture . therefore the colors are brighter. Oops I forgot to mention , I brought my tripod with me (^_^).

I apologize for the quality of this shot . The digital zoom as iyts limit , despite I used my tripod. The image is not as sharp as it should be.

Cheers!
Robert
