Stone Wall - 400 years old (70)

Hello Everyone,

Time for another theme, already! Whereas I am normally hunting furiously for a shot to fit the theme, there is no shortage of dry stone walls and random stone wall around where I live, so it was more of a problem deciding which one to use!

This is a random stone wall. That means, the stones have not been dressed, are of varying sizes and don't fit into neat courses. This one is a wall of a very old house. The wall is about a metre thick. It was contructed by building an outer wall; then an inner wall and the centre cavity filled with rubble. There is no cavity wall in these old houses.

Just out of interest, the wheel once belonged to an old cart that was used on the farm and now provides decoration, and a talking point for the old men of the village.

Many thanks for stopping by.
I hope you found it interesting.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect og the photograph. :-)

pp slight crop, sharpened, added layer, stroked border then erased some to reveal the detail of the wall.
