Kurdish children, their very 1st photo (6)

(Please note : as I wrote in a new update in my intro, because I am not enough regular on TL and as I'll return abroad very soon : I'm totally done with the "points" system on this site... Again, NO RATINGS, PLEASE !)

Photo taken in the high altitude Kurdish village near Eleskirt (Horasan, Agri).

These cute but rather shy kids had been following us for a long time in the village, Adem my 12-years-old guide, his friends and I, so in the end I proposed them to pose for me but they seemed rather intimidated first.

Now that I know a bit more of photoshop, I'll repost the whole sequence of 6 photos, the first of them being this one and you can see other photos from the same village here.

Unfortunately, almost all the photos that I took during that travel were in the smallest format, something that I regret now...

the opposite direction.

(FYI) the "women's area" is behind the curtain which is normally not drawn as the women traditionally pray inside their houses except for the time of festival ; in that case, they will enter from another door, not having to pass near the men who enter by the door that you can see (behind it, a small room where water taps allow the compulsory ablutions to be made)

direction of Mecca

(FYI) (NB : opposite direction seen here.)
The inside of the mosque where I was allowed to sleep for 2 nights (behind the curtain on the left). I was sleeping on the floor but on extra carpets, it was not bad as an accomodation and certainly much more quiet than a hotel !!!

During day time, luggage had to be removed and placed somewhere else, curtain is normally not closed this way.

You can see the "minbar" (preacher's elevated chair on the right) and towards the centre, the "mirhab" (niche indicating the direction of Mecca, people praying having to be orientated in that direction.

Two of the sons of Kemal and at the back in orange, a neighbour with his sister - plenty of blond children in that village, with a skin that is not fit for the ardent sun and its reflections from the lake a few metres away !

(NB : I think that the boys had wet their hair as they wanted to pose for me : nowadays, the fashion for boys is putting a lot of gel on their hair ! :)))

my friend Kemal, 2 years later

My friend Kemal, 2 years later - he had gone to the lake to have a bath and put his best shirt on while I was resting as it was so hot over there, specially last summer (it shows on my face - with my reading glasses on !)
