The Forest in Autumn (32)

There are several deciduous trees intermingled with the native eucalypts in the forest at Mt Macedon near our home. The deciduous trees are currently providing added colour to the normally green forest.

At about 10 o'clock this morning the sun was breaking through the trees and showering its light into the forest.

I'm on holidays at the moment, so I was fortunate enough to be there at the time to experience it.

PP: Only slight contrast and saturation modifications made.

Photoshop tweaking

I first selected the sun rays with the magic wand tool (32 setting) then inversed the selection to choose the dark parts.
I applied an adjustment layer and I selected the levels tools to lighten only the mid tones and the shadows. However parts of the shadows still remained too dark.
I used then the Select color range tools and I selected “shadows”. With this selection and the Curves tool I further lightened the shadows.
I saturated a bit the colours and applied a moss filter of which I reduced the opacity to 50%
I applied a little touch of sharpening mask.
That's all
