 Here they come! (26) sjofre
(897) | This was taken in Beja in a Helicopters Party were we saw a demonstration of Rotores de Portugal.
Rotores de Portugal are a helicopter flight demonstration team of the Portuguese Air Force created in 1976 in B.A.3 in Tancos. Nowadays they operate in the same Squadron, but that was moved to Beja to B.A.11(after the closing of B.A.3).
They are Portugal's national helicopter display team and use three Sud Aviation Alouette III.
They starting using 4 Alouette III, but while the machine gets old, they have to be less operating.
Rotores de Portugal and the Portuguese Air Force is something with which I am personally involved, since my deceased father was a Portuguese Air Force Pilot and one of the founders of Rotores de Portugal. He invented some of their tricks (like the smokes you can see in the this Photo), and it is very pleasant to me to see that the actual Rotores still use most of them.
In this photo you can see the 3 Al III, and my niece and daughter watching them.
