 The Cry Of The Captive (74) chiaraluna
(2560) | ...
The Captive Dove
Poor restless dove, I pity thee;
And when I hear thy plaintive moan,
I mourn for thy captivity,
And in thy woes forget mine own.
To see thee stand prepared to fly,
And flap those useless wings of thine,
And gaze into the distant sky,
Would melt a harder heart than mine.
In vain in vain! Thou canst not rise:
Thy prison roof confines thee there;
Its slender wires delude thine eyes,
And quench thy longings with despair.
Oh, thou wert made to wander free
In sunny mead and shady grove,
And, far beyond the rolling sea,
In distant climes, at will to rove!
Yet, hadst thou but one gentle mate
Thy little drooping heart to cheer,
And share with thee thy captive state,
Thou couldst be happy even there.
Yes, even there, if, listening by,
One faithful dear companion stood,
While gazing on her full bright eye,
Thou mightst forget thy native wood.
But thou, poor solitary dove,
Must make, unheard, thy joyless moan;
The heart, that Nature formed to love,
Must pine, neglected, and alone.
~ Anne Brontė
"stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage" as a wise man once said... so i'm battling to break down the walls of my captivity and fly away as my soul desires and needs... i wish the strength to find your freedom and your wings to all of you my dears...
***
just put this together in the last hour or so as i really needed to give a voice to what i am feeling... not let my prison keep holding me back... i don't want to relive the all too familiar habit of hiding deep within myself too afraid to express my heart and soul to the world...
i just used levels for the high key and an old film filter to create this mood which felt appropriate.. i posted a workshop with another experimental version i did this morning for those fed up with seeing me only in monotone :-)
take good care everyone and i am with you in spirit even if unable to do much critiquing right now.. i hate to think of all the beautiful photographs i might be missing but i really hope to find the strngth to get back into the swing of things soon... just remember that you and your work have my admiration and support even if i can't comment much right now :-)
hugs to all,
Ayda |

(2560) Regain some color... Edited by:DigiSpy

Hi Ayda,
I had to do some work with this one I could not resist. What a beauty of a portrait, my compliments. I was looking for some color, get you out of that B/W mood, I don't know if I managed, it was a very hard tuning PP-work work to compose.
So what did I try?
- PhotoShop
- recolored in several layers various items
- merged and did several color tuning and levels adjustments
- added some grain
- and finally added a frame. Not to cage you in, but more a window to the future ;-)
I still think your photo is very very strong, I got it less than equal I think. But anyway, you do have some color again, in various levels and strenght. I only filled in what's netween black and white.
See you again, Richard |

(2560) a little colour & intensity.. Edited by:chiaraluna
(2560) |
| just used selective desaturation keeping my hair red by masking it using the magic wand to select, then used a gentle lighting effect and a filter called 'bad dream' to create the high key and the intensity of the look.. |
