 # 200: Kroezeboom (44) SunToucher
(6917) | In the east of the Netherlands stones and trees were used to mark a border or crossing. The trees were called 'Kroezeboom'.
This very old Oak tree is a border marker between farmland on the top of an open field. (Fleringer Es) The trees were also considered a holy place and were used as a place for justice. This tree is accompanied by a Roman Catholic chapel. The tree is expected to be between 400 and 500 years old.
Yup, I've reached the 200 milestone.
In the last couple of weeks a major part of Europe have been living in very cold temperatures. I am sure that we Dutch are not experiencing the kind of temperatures eastern Europeans have, but its still a proper winter for us. In a more micro view, the eastern and southern part of my country recieved snow and transformed the country into a winter wonderland.
I've visited this place many times when I was yong and most recently in May when all the flowers were blooming. I knew I had to return this morning and capture it with the layer of snow and frost.
I've though about posting a black and white version, but opted for the color one. The B&W is in the workshop. |
